Leslie & Jonathon

Large Family Wedding with Unique Cultural Traditions and Surprises

I first met Jonathon and Leslie through Jonathon’s mother, who reached out asking for someone to hold a camera and capture their engagement. Now, I’m not one to half-do anything, so I told her I would absolutely record their engagement, but I refused to just do a simple video. Instead, I captured plenty of b-roll and even mic’d up the pavilion where they got engaged. They were so thrilled with the surprise engagement session that they reached out to me to shoot their wedding video as well.

Leslie comes from a large Hispanic family, and I got to witness some amazing traditions I had never seen before. One highlight was the lasso ceremony, where both families placed a lasso around the couple and prayed over them. It was such a beautiful, symbolic moment that added a deep sense of meaning to the day.

The wedding itself was a full-on celebration. It was a large party, overflowing with life, laughter, and happiness. As an extra surprise, they even had an ice cream truck come serve their guests, which was such a fun and playful touch that everyone loved.

Capturing Jonathon and Leslie’s wedding was about more than just filming the event. It was about documenting the traditions, the surprises, and the pure joy of two families coming together to celebrate love in their own unique way.
